I am THRILLED to announce that YALSA (the Young Adult Library Services Association) has selected Salt & Storm for their 2015 Best Fiction for Young Adult list! I am so stunned and honored at the news--this list has some seriously wonderful books on it, and it is amazing to see Salt & Storm up there with them.
My editor kindly shared some of the comments from the BFYA committee's annual open meeting, where they discuss the books, and this is what people had to say: "rich," "unique" "found the atmosphere so alluring," "embodying the rhythm of the ocean."
They also picked out some of my favorite parts of the book, like the relationship between women of different generations and the idea that there can be power in pain. And the best part: their teen readers love it!
Thank you to YALSA and the BFYA committee for this wonderful honor and to all librarians for your committed and impassioned love of reading!
