Ordering

Since every piece I make is unique and customized, I only accept new orders (with the exception of digital portraits or patterns) when I open to commission requests, typically every 6-10 weeks. I announce these openings on my Instagram page, on my Embroidery page, and through my mailing list (sign-up form at the bottom of this page). Typically, I open at a set time and ask anyone interested to email me at grumpydogdesigns@gmail.com and assign the commission spots either via a lottery or first-come-first-serve basis (I will let you know ahead of time what process I’ll be using). Commission slots fill up very quickly so I suggest joining my mailing list to make sure you don’t miss the window!

I am almost always open for commissions for digital portraits, patterns, and embroidery kits. To place an order, please email me with a photo of your pet and what kind of portrait or pattern you’re looking for. My turnaround time is typically within a week.

If you receive one of the commission slots, I’ll email you to go over what kind of piece you’d like, give you your quote, and let you know the estimated start and completion date. When I’m set to begin, we’ll talk about your piece, what color you’d like for your background, and go over some pictures of your pet. You’re welcome to send as many photos as you like; please let me know if you have any favorites. The best photos are large, clear, and taken in natural light. You can check out my Pet Photography Guide for tips! After we’ve decided on a photo, I’ll make a preliminary sketch to show you what the final product will look like. If it all looks good to you, I can go ahead and get started as soon as I receive the first half of the payment. I’ll email you a photo of the completed piece as soon as I’ve finished, and once you approve your piece, I’ll pack it up and send it out when I receive the second half of the payment.

Payment

I accept payment via Venmo or PayPal. For all pieces over $100, payment is split into two parts, with the first part due upon initial design consultation (for digital art) or preliminary design approval (for embroidered pieces). The second half of the payment is due upon completion and prior to shipping.

Shipping

For hoops 8” and smaller shipped within the US, there is a flat fee of $10 for the first hoop. Any additional hoops are $5 each.
Hoops larger than 8” are subject to an additional shipping fee based on size. Please contact me directly for more information. 
For pendants shipped in the US, there is a flat fee of $5 for up to two pendants. Additional pendants are $3 each.
Embroidery kits ship free of charge in the US.
International shipping is calculated based on current shipping charges. Please be advised your local postal organization may charge additional fees upon delivery.
All shipments are insured up to $1000. Additional insurance can be purchased for an extra fee.
